Nice cooler it took a few minutes for the pads to get wet but once they did it provided some nice cool air. On low it rovided enough air movement and I also like the ability to adjust the water flow to the pads. During the most humid season this should really be an asset.
The construction seems simple but well made

I used this unit twice now and must say that it works great, and I really like the adjustable wet bulb option which means that it will also be affective during the Monsoon season when not that much added moisture is required

I got this product about 3 days ago and am very pleased with the item. Universal
From what I can tell, this 5" type flex hose is pretty universal across portable air conditioner vent hoses. I bought this as a replacement, or Frankenstein extension, to my DeLonghi unit purchased from Lowe's, which only came with a 4' (3' maybe?) hose. This hose seemed to have the PVC fittings glued on so I cut them below the fitting, snipped the wire and threaded the DeLonghi fittings on (The fittings on the DeLonghi unit just 'unscrew' off the hose). Presto, a hose that reaches the window. Supposedly DeLonghi says the unit shouldn't be used with a longer hose but I also read that it has an auto-shutoff feature. We'll see if the house burns down, but I digress.

Not as enthusiastic as others
I can't say I've had as good an experience as others reported here...the main problem I've discovered is that the compressor only cycles on for about seven minutes at a time, followed by fifteen minutes during which the machine simply operates as a fan and blows in hot air from outside. Company info on their web site indicates that this is being done to prevent the compressor from overheating--unfortunately, this results in the compressor remaining cool while my small studio apartment (only 200 sq feet) remains too hot. I don't know if other units have similar limitations, but I would hesitate to recommend this product on the basis of my own experience. Hope this is helpful to anyone looking to make a buying decision...

I purchased this unit out of desperation in the midst of a heat-wave. I read a lot of reviews and settled on this guy, and I'm not disappointed. My living room isn't huge (approx. 12'x16'), but it cools it down effectively.

The Pros:
- My girlfriend loves the remote. You can change the mode, target temperature, fan speed, and turn it on and off without moving off the couch.
- I like that it shows you the temperature. I also like that it automatically kicks the compressor on and off as needed.
- No buckets to empty.

The Cons:
- When the other reviews talk about the exhaust tube being big, they're lying. It's FREAKIN' HUGE. Think dryer hose.
- There's no way (that I've found, at least) to set it to turn off when it hits the target temperature. I still panic over high energy bills, so it's scary to leave it running all the time. I'd like it a lot more if it would not only kill the compressor, but shut down the whole unit when the room...

I love this product. With Winter approaching the heater feature has actually kept my bedroom warm and I'm not freezing "to death" as I had been previous years. The AC portion is slightly disappointing as I didn't realize I would have have the hose directed outside so to use it I have to use my patio door because of the location and size of my window (my bedroom window is beyond huge). But it is a great product and works as it should. I'm happy I purchased this.
