i just got the ac thursday after searching everywhere for a 5000 btu unit and was glad to find some on amazon. my mom has a haier and it works fine but the artic king works better and is very quiet compaired to the haier. i am also pleased with the 5 year warranty. when my moms starts to break down you can bet i'll get her an artic king.
just to let you all know i live in the attic half of it was converted to a studio and the job done was a very poor one so it is lacking insulation. but with the ac i can get the temp to about 75 when it was ranging between 90-100.

This item is (again) unavailable. I had to wait over a month to receive mine but don't let that dissuade you from putting yourself on the wait list. Unless you must have an A/C right now, it's an A/C worth waiting for (depending upon where you live, there's still several more hot months. Also, watch out for the price; it bounces up and down fairly drastically. I paid 139 dollars (with free shipping).

[Update: 8/28/12 -- From the time I bought this in June, 2012, this A/C has been running nearly 24x7. I don't use the HVAC since the electrical cost is a bank account buster. I run the Artic A/C upstairs in my small 2 story detached home which cools and dehumidifies my entire house when the outdoor temperature is below 90 degrees. I also have to run the A/C when the outdoor humidity is high...
