Does What It Says
It adapts grounded plugs to non-grounded outlets (3-prong to 2-prong) for US plug types. I bought this for going traveling, actually - most US-to-international plug adapters you find are only two-prong, so if you have something you need to plug in that has a ground prong, it doesn't work. This adapter takes care of that nicely.

Most Underlined Buyer Review : Good, but make sure the outlet screw is actually grounded!
This adapter will allow you to use grounded appliances in two-slot outlets, but be sure that the outlet screw is actually grounded. You can test this with a multimeter set to voltage (it should read 120 volts between the ground screw and the smaller side of the receptacle), but if you don't know how to use a multimeter, don't do it. Once you determine that the screw is grounded, unscrew the cover plate screw, plug the adapter in, and screw the coverplate screw back on, with the screw going through the green tab. If the screw isn't grounded, you're not out of luck. Use a portable GFCI (search Amazon for portable GFCI) plugged into the grounding adapter and don't worry about connecting the screw. You can still connect it if you want to, just to prevent someone from unplugging and losing the adapter. Using this adapter on an ungrounded screw and without a portable GFCI will work, but it is dangerous. This product is safe when used with a grounded screw and/or a portable GFCI.
