These window panels are easy to trim...and will fit in the existing extenders if your air conditioner has them. If you don't...you can use the supplied sticky channel. My husband and I had them installed in 15 minutes...and noticed quite a difference in the coolness of the room....and they're a lot better looking than towels and cardboard.
Since they're foam...and compress...if your window is as uneven as mine is...it actually works better than the original plastic side panels. If you think industrial grey is ugly...you can cut some paper or cardboard to fit in front of the foam in the channel.
I recommend locking your window sash when using these...both to avoid having your air conditioner fall out your window...and discourage someone from using your air...
