Well, after doing a great deal of research and reviewing the reviews here and elsewhere, I chose to purchase Frigidaire FRA08PZU1 8,000 BTU Cool/3,500 BTU Heat Compact Window Air Conditioner with Heat. Though I 'd have liked a better warranty, I chose the features were appealing enough to attempt it. It is a great deal of money to toss away if it falls short just after the guarantee. I am completely in love with this item. It is high quality product, wise attributes. I simply got it today, and I will update my review later if required.

Supplemental heating option does not work when the outside temperatures plunge below 45 degrees Fahrenheit!
I purchased this unit in May 2012. I used it to cool my apartment for almost four months. I started using the unit's supplemental heating feature in September 2012. At that time, I noticed that whenever the temperatures outside plunged BELOW 45 degrees Fahrenheit, a BURNING SMELL would come from the unit while operating in the supplemental heat mode... and when that happens, the unit provides little to no heat whatsoever! The unit indicates that its supplemental heating feature provides you with an additional heat source "when needed." But what it SHOULD indicate is that its supplemental heating feature provides you with an additional heat source "only when the outside temperatures are 45 degrees Fahrenheit or HIGHER." When I brought this issue to the attention of the manufacturer of this unit (Electrolux Major Appliances), the manufacturer completely disregarded the issue! ENERGY EFFICIENT

This unit has an Energy Efficiency Ratio of 9.8 and is sure to provide you with savings, along with convenient, cool comfort. In Energy-saver mode, the fan continues to run for 1 minute after the compressor shuts off. The fan then cycles on for 20 seconds at 10 minute intervals until the room temperature is above the set temperature, at which time the compressor turns back on. Also, the low power start-up conserves energy, plus the sleep mode gradually increases room temperature after being activated. This slight increase in temperature will not affect your comfort level due to the natural effects that sleeping has on the body, but it will save on the energy consumption of the unit.
